Thanks to your generosity, we continue to make significant strides toward the Fresenius Medical Care Foundation’s (the Foundation) goals, including supporting innovations to improve access to transplantation and improving the lives of our employee’s facing hardship. At Fresenius Medical Care, we commit to transparency and accountability as cornerstones of our values, and, as the Foundation recently concluded its annual year-end audit, we wanted to share a glimpse into the impact of our donors’ contributions in 2024 and how these funds were utilized.
Funds Raised
First, we are proud to announce that in 2024, the Foundation raised a total of $1.56 million—a 69% increase over 2023 due to an increase in PTO donations from employees. This achievement would not have been possible without your unwavering support and dedication to our cause.
- Each dollar donated to the Foundation’s Transplant Fund serves as a crucial building block in our mission to raise awareness about kidney disease and transplantation, offering a lifeline to those in need.
- The CARES Fund, an emergency financial assistance program for Fresenius Medical Care employees, is also managed by the Foundation. Donations directed toward our CARES Fund offer vital assistance to employees facing financial hardship due to natural disasters, loss of a loved one, chronic illness, and other emergencies.
Allocation of Funds
We’re committed to ensuring that your donations directly impact our programs and initiatives. Fresenius Medical Care covers all operating expenses—ensuring 100% of your donations to both funds go to programs like grants to transplant organizations and employees in need.
Transplant Fund: Supporting Improving Outcomes of Post-transplant Patient Experiences
One of the grants awarded in 2024 was to the American Society of Transplantation (AST). The grant, approved in 2023, was designated to survey organ transplant recipients about their experiences with current immunosuppressant agents. Insights gained from the survey are being used to inform strategies to improve patient-reported outcomes.
📌 More information about the results of their research can be found in the article in the American Journal of Transplantation.
We are honored to support AST in this important endeavor that aligns with our mission to improve patient care and long-term outcomes of post-transplant patient experiences with immunosuppressive therapies.
CARES Fund: Supporting Fresenius Medical Care Colleagues in Need
Of the total funds donated to the Foundation, donors designated 86 percent to the CARES Fund. This fund provides emergency financial assistance globally to Fresenius Medical Care employees facing unexpected challenges. Fresenius Medical Care matches every donation made to the CARES Fund—doubling the impact of all donations, all year. In 2024, the CARES Fund played a vital role in supporting numerous colleagues in need, including those impacted by Hurricane Helene, Hurricane Milton, and the conflicts in Israel and Ukraine. Your contributions were combined with money donated by Fresenius Medical Care and directly provided to employees in need of essential relief during times of crisis.
Your continued support and dedication to the Foundation have allowed us to make significant strides in the fight against kidney disease and in supporting Fresenius Medical Care colleagues in their greatest time of need. None of this would be possible without your generosity. We look forward to sharing more updates and achievements in the coming year. Thank you for being a vital part of our mission and for making a positive impact on countless lives.
