ApolloDialDb™ pulls together data from multiple continents—North America; Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA); Latin America; and Asia Pacific. With information coming from 40 countries, the database spans a wide range of clinical details, including patient demographics, diagnoses, laboratory results, medications, treatments, quality of life assessments, and outcomes, all while ensuring robust security and privacy measures to safeguard this sensitive healthcare information and maintaining compliance with industry regulations and standards.
With patient privacy safeguarded, the database becomes a powerful resource for researchers without compromising personal information. Patient data is collected over years and updated regularly. This long-term view is essential for tracking how patient health changes over time and gives providers better tools for spotting trends in each patient’s dialysis journey.
One of the biggest challenges in creating such a vast database is ensuring consistency. Data originates from a variety of electronic clinical systems, and each source might record information in its own unique way. To address this, ApolloDialDb™ uses a process called data harmonization. By standardizing and reconciling the different data points, the process ensures that information from various regions is both consistent and accurate. The result is a harmonized, research-ready dataset that enables scalable analytics, supports global risk modeling, and drives quality improvement initiatives with consistent, generalizable insights.”
The sheer scale of ApolloDialDb™ is impressive. It currently covers more than 540 thousand kidney failure patients, 140 million dialysis treatments, and 35 million laboratory values. Such a wealth of information is not only a boon for researchers but also has practical implications for patient care. By analyzing this data, researchers can identify patterns, trends, and correlations that may lead to early insights into disease progression and treatment effectiveness.
