Jürgen embodies what it means to Care, Connect, and Commit
Recently, colleagues, friends, and leaders gathered in Schweinfurt, Germany, to celebrate an extraordinary milestone: Jürgen Baumann’s 40th work anniversary at Fresenius Medical Care (FME). It was a celebration of loyalty, perseverance, and a colleague whose personal journey embodies the very purpose of our company.
When Jürgen joined the warehouse team in Schweinfurt on July 1, 1986, his working hours were adjusted from day one to accommodate his dialysis treatments. That early experience of support has stayed with him throughout his career.
Just weeks after joining the company, Jürgen received his first kidney transplant. Although this first of a total of three transplants ultimately did not take, he never allowed these setbacks to define him. Since returning to dialysis in 1988, he has continued to build an impressive career – taking on new responsibilities in logistics, serving as Safety Officer, navigating organizational changes, and becoming a trusted colleague known for his reliability and commitment.
His story is inseparable from the mission of FME. While our teams work every day to improve the lives of people living with kidney disease, Jürgen has experienced that mission personally for four decades. By December 2025, he reached an extraordinary milestone: 40 years on dialysis, with more than 5,800 treatments and over 26,000 hours of life sustained through dialysis during that time.
"Dialysis has always been part of my life, but it has never defined me. I've always focused on what I can contribute. Fresenius Medical Care has given me the opportunity to do meaningful work alongside great colleagues, and I'm grateful for that every day," shares Jürgen.

Jürgen's remarkable career has also been supported by the unwavering encouragement of his wife, whose strength has accompanied him through many health challenges.
